Why I Chose Freelancing as a Student

Are you seeking security or adventure?

Choosing to freelance as a student wasn’t the easiest decision — in fact, it was a bold move. None of my friends are doing it. There’s little conversation around freelancing in my circle, and honestly, I didn’t expect much support either. But still, I chose it. Because even if I’m just starting out, I believe in creating my own path.

What makes it harder is the doubt. Not just mine — but others’. I often feel people won’t connect with what I’m trying to build. They may think the idea isn’t genuine. But it is. I want to use this forum to create something meaningful — to connect people with opportunities I’ve found or may find, and to guide others who are in the same spot I was just months ago.

Back then, I was a job seeker, frustrated and unsure about continuing my MBA in Business Analytics. I seriously considered quitting. But instead, I started applying for jobs through portals and found success. That experience shifted something in me. My parents encouraged me to continue the program for long-term benefit — and I listened. But deep down, I knew: If I could do it for myself, why not do it for others too?

Now, I’ve built a habit of reaching out to recruiters regularly. It’s part of my routine. I have the energy, the drive — but I’m still waiting for the results. Responses are low. People hesitate to trust something new, especially when it’s coming from a student. But I’m not giving up.

I want to say this to anyone standing at the edge of a bold move: choose courage. It may not give instant results. But it will help you grow — today or tomorrow. Just don’t lose hope.

“I choose courage over comfort, questions over uncertainty, and progress over perfection.”
