I recently came across a reel by Shreya Mahendru on Instagram where she spoke about something that really clicked with me — expensive problems in business.
Why are they called expensive problems? In layman’s terms, because if they’re not solved, a company loses a lot of money. Businesses bleed when these issues are ignored, which is why solving them makes you highly valuable.
The three big expensive problems are: Client Growth, System Setup, and Project Execution. Let’s break them down.
—
1. Client Growth
When I hear the term Client Growth, the first thing that comes to my mind is the ability to retain a customer for a long time. Because honestly, without clients, there’s no money in the business.
Client growth is critical — it keeps the business alive and growing. One way businesses can grow their client base effectively is through digital marketing and CRM tools. I’m still new to it myself, but I can see how having proper systems for reaching and nurturing clients makes a huge difference.

2. System Setup
A business without systems? That’s pure chaos. When there are no proper workflows, it’s hard to hold people accountable, and problems just multiply.
Thankfully, today there are so many tools to organize and automate processes:
Project management tools like Trello, ClickUp, or Asana
Tech setups like CRMs or automated emails
Data dashboards and KPIs for tracking performance
Even something as simple as an email + payment setup can save a business owner hours every week. That’s the power of systems.

3. Project Execution
Many businesses have brilliant plans but fail when it comes to execution. Why? Often it’s due to poor time and resource management or weak team coordination.
Strong project executors stand out because of their management, leadership, and planning skills. These ensure that projects don’t just stay on paper but are delivered on time and within budget.

Why This Matters
Solving these three problems doesn’t just help a business — it can change your career too. Why? Because when you know how to solve expensive problems, you can earn more. You’re no longer paid for hours worked but for the value you create.
I’m currently learning how to make dashboards and analyze KPIs as part of this journey. My advice to anyone starting out? Start small. Learn. Apply. And begin solving business problems one step at a time.

✨ Expensive problems may sound intimidating, but they’re really just opportunities in disguise. The more problems you can solve, the more valuable you become — both to yourself and to any business.
