Maha Saptami: An Evening with Durga Maa and Ma

This Maha Saptami felt different, softer, and more meaningful. In the evening, I visited a Durga Puja pandal with my mother—a moment I didn’t realize would stay with me so deeply.

The pandal was beautifully decorated with jute and fresh flowers, glowing under warm lights. There was no crowd at that hour, and maybe that was the blessing. For the first time, I saw Durga Maa without the noise, the rush, or the chaos of celebration. It felt like she was waiting just for us.

Standing there with my mother, I felt a kind of peace I haven’t felt in a long time. The stillness made everything more powerful—her eyes, her form, her presence. I could admire her beauty without distraction, and in that quiet space, I felt elated, grounded, and connected.

Watching my mother beside me, I realized how rare these moments are—just the two of us, sharing devotion without words. It wasn’t just a visit to the pandal; it felt like Durga Maa gave us a moment of pause, warmth, and togetherness.

Maha Saptami, this year, wasn’t about the celebration around us—it was about the serenity within it.
