Tell us about a time when you felt out of place.
Recently, I went for a job interview where I was initially prepared for a Business Development role. However, just before the interview began, I was suddenly shifted to the Digital Marketing profile instead. I hadn’t prepared for that role, and the expectations, questions, and direction of the conversation felt completely different from what I was ready for.
In that moment, I genuinely felt out of place—as if I had walked into the wrong room. I tried to adapt and answer as best as I could, but mentally I was still aligned with the Business Development role I had prepared for. Eventually, I was not selected, and while it was disappointing, it made me reflect on adaptability, clarity in communication, and the importance of being prepared for sudden changes.
Although I wasn’t chosen this time, the experience helped me understand how I react in unfamiliar situations and where I can improve going forward.
